Problem & solution

Specific challenge government facilities

The ministerial complex has hundreds of P-traps. The barracks are more like an enclosed compound. The technical service is overloaded; odors are appearing, and procurement takes six months.

Without Green Drain™

  • Auto-flush systems don't wet the floor drains — P-trap drying
  • Holidays, weekends, summer standby — P-traps have been dry for weeks
  • A smell complaint is received through a formal document — it cannot be ignored.
  • Standard public procurement requires documentation: standard, certificate, lifespan, SDS
  • The procurement process takes 4–6 months — the specification must be precise from day one.

With Green Drain™

  • ASSE 1072-2020 report — covers 'trap seal' specification in public procurement
  • EN 1253 compliance — European standard for P-traps
  • EU MDR Class I — if the facility is used for healthcare (clinics in military barracks)
  • 5-year written term — covers a multi-year procurement project
  • SDS and Declaration of Conformity ready — no waiting for the manufacturer
Irish public procurement (OGP)

System Strictly process-oriented.

All Irish public-sector procurement runs through the Office of Government Procurement (OGP) and the etenders.gov.ie portal. EU Directive 2014/24 and S.I. 284 of 2016 require every item to have a defined technical specification and documented evidence. Specifications must be non-discriminatory — which lets solutions that meet recognised international standards qualify on merit.

Model Recommendation

Recommendation for OGP public procurement.

Irish public administration includes Government Departments, OPW-managed heritage and office buildings, Defence Forces installations, the Courts Service estate, An Garda Síochána stations and the Local Authority network. Each facility type has a different profile — Departments are typically commercial offices, Defence Forces sites have dormitories + canteens + workshops, and Courts are offices with constant footfall. Specifications are submitted through OGP / etenders.gov.ie.
